This article will outline the procedure for updating the firmware on the IndigoDUO unit via SD card removal.

What you will need :

  • PC (Windos or MAC) with SD Card Slot/Reader
  • MicroSD to SD Adaptor

Step 1:

Please download the zip file linked at the bottom of this article and save it on your desktop.

Step 2:

Once downloaded, unzip the file to a folder on the desktop. There should be 1 file included in the ZIP file. (GRIFFIN1.BIN)

Step 3:

If the unit is on, turn off the IndigoDUO unit by holding down the power button for 3 seconds until you hear the descending (power off) tone from the unit, or  If the unit is being powered from the aircraft please unplug the power to the unit. Confirm no LED's are lit.

Step 4:

Remove the unit from the cradle, and slide off the front rubber trim. You'll find the MicroSD card on the left hand side of the unit (This with the buttons facing you). Simply press in the MicroSD card gently (it's spring clipped) , then release. The MicroSD will push out of the unit.

Step 5:

Place the MicroSD card in an adaptor (MicroSD to SD), and plug the SD card into your PC

Step 6:

Open the browser and search for the "UNTITLED" drive appear on your computer.

Step 7:

Copy the 2 files you extracted onto your desktop in Step 2 to the "UNTITLED" drive and confirm the overwrite warning when asked.

Step 8:

Once both files have finished copying, EJECT the "UNTITLED" drive by right clicking on the drive and choosing "EJECT" from the menu.

Step 9:

Once the drive has disappeared from your computer or you get a prompt saying that the drive has been ejected successfully, you can remove the SD card from the PC.

Step 10: Re-insert the MicroSD in the slot on the IndigoDUO unit (Left side with the buttons facing you) and put the rubber trim back on to cover and protect the MicroSD and Sim slots.

Step 11: Power up the unit, then reset it by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds. The unit will beep, all the LED's will illuminate, then the 2 center LED's (Blue and Green) will then start to flash alternating while the unit updates the firmware.

Do not attempt to do anything with the unit during this process and leave it connected to the USB so that it still has power from the PC during the update.

Step 12:

Once the 2 center LED's have stopped flashing, the unit will restart again on its own. Once this has completed, you can then power down the unit.

The unit should now be on the latest firmware.

Please power the unit on and place outside (with the antenna connected) to test that it reports back to the tracking platform again.
